BP's Custom Golf Club Fitting Home

Custom Golf Club fitting is the process of taking all the variables that go into making a golf club and tweaking them to produce the optimal club for an individual's particular swing.

As opposed to what is available in the Products section of the site where you can choose such things as shaft flex, length, and grip size; custom fitting is where I make recommendations to you based on information you provide about your swing to give you the best club possible that will mesh with your swing characteristics.

QUESTION 1: Is custom fitting worth your money? Well that's up to you. What you are paying for is my experience in fitting people and my time to take the information you submit and spec out a set of clubs for you. The nice thing is you don't pay for the custom fitting until you buy the clubs. Yes, I may be stupid for doing it that way as some people may take my recommendation and run to another club fitter that can build clubs but is not experienced in custom fitting but that is a chance I am willing to take.

Custom fitting is a way to eliminate variables that work against your swing. Once you can be sure your equipment is not placing obstacles in the way of you improving your game then you can really get to work on improving swing.

BE WARNED: This does mean you will not be able to blame your clubs anymore!

QUESITON 2: Does custom fitting really matter? Of course it does; does adjusting the seat and mirrors matter to you when you drive a car? You may be able to get by but that does not make it a pleasant experience if your knees are smashed into the dashboard and you can't see who is behind you.

The clubs the pro's use on tour are not even close to the clubs you buy on the shelf of your local golf retailer. Length, Loft, Lie, Weight, Grips, Grip Tape, even the shaft itself may have been changed and modified to meet the exact standards for that golfer. The golf equipment manufacturers of course want you to believe that you can go buy the same club that your favorite pro uses but in reality that is no closer to a NASCAR stock car being the same Ford Taurus you drive off the lot.

If you have any question about custom fitting please contact me or fill out the custom fitting form and I will get back to you with club recommendations.

Fitting Flaws

Two common mistakes are made by people when they buy clubs for themselves without the involvemement of a club fitter.

First is we get shafts that are too stiff for our swing. Very few people achieve the kind of consitent swing speed throughout a set of clubs that requires a "stiff" shaft.

Second, we tend to buy drivers that are too long for us to control for the sake of hitting the occasional amazing drive.

Get clubs that fit your swing, not your ego.
